Pay

We will pay you a competitive salary that reflects your skills, knowledge and overall contribution to the OFT. You will also be able to earn a performance-related bonus.

Pension

On appointment to the OFT, you will be eligible to join the Civil Service Pension Scheme. You will automatically become a member of the Premium scheme unless you choose to opt out or join the defined-contribution Partnership pension account. The Premium scheme is an index-linked defined benefit scheme, and is worth around 18 per cent of pay. The Partnership pension is a stakeholder pension with an age-related employer contribution. Further information is available on the Civil Service Pensions website.

Leave

You will be entitled to 30 days paid leave per year, plus Bank Holidays and two and a half extra 'privilege' days - one at Christmas, the Queen's birthday (usually added to the Bank Holiday at the end of May), and a half day at Easter. You will also be entitled to paid maternity, paternity or adoption leave.

Learning and development

We are committed to helping you fulfil your potential - something that is reflected in our accreditation to the Investors in People standard.

You will have an annual appraisal to agree a stretching personal development plan. You will be able to choose from a wide range of face-to-face training programmes and e-learning modules, and benefit from regular information-sharing seminars given by colleagues.

We can give you financial support and paid study leave if you are pursuing academic study relevant to your role.

Hours

You will be able to work flexible hours so you can balance the demands of work and home. Working from home for one or more days a week is also possible in some roles.

Full-time employees work a five-day, 36-hour week (exclusive of lunch hours). We also offer some part-time positions, including job shares.

Season ticket loan

After one month of service, you will be able to apply for an interest-free loan to buy a travel season ticket or a bicycle or motorbike for travel to work.

Childcare vouchers

We operate a childcare voucher scheme that gives you the option to purchase childcare vouchers via deductions from your salary. You only pay tax and National Insurance on your reduced salary, so in effect the vouchers you buy are tax-free.

Discounted healthcare

We offer access to low-cost private health insurance and private medical facilities for Civil Servants.
